Profile - James Darcy

  • Name: James Darcy
  • Age: 21
  • Years Playing: 3 years
  • Current team(s): Hammertime
  • Position: Cutter
  • Favourite Ultimate Moment: Beating Limerick in IVs this year with DCU was brilliant. But also playing my first tournament with Ireland was great. Winning MVP for the first day, scoring that double happiness point and scoring my first callahan, made it a pretty successful tournament for me.:)
  • What are you enjoying most/most looking forward to in the ECBU campaign: Playing against the top international teams in Europe, and Ireland pulling off a few upsets against the big teams. I'm also looking forward to getting back into the full fitness routine, now that I've finally finished my final year exams and project.
  • Anyone you're particularly excited to play alongside: I'm looking forward to playing with everybody. I think we've all gelled as a team after Yes But Nau, and look forward to playing as a team again. It's great to play alongside Kev too. His work rate on the pitch is fantastic. And I suppose the banter room lads were pretty successful in Yes But Nau, so I'm definitely looking forward to us tearing it up in Calafell, both on and off the pitch.
  • Personal Paragraph: I've been playing Ultimate for 3 years now. I never thought I would become so attached to a sport. The ultimate community, the atmosphere of the game and the game itself is just brilliant. My first time playing beach ultimate was the trial for the Irish team. I'm still getting used to the whole running on sand job, but I'll get there and as a plus playing beach is really improving my grass game. I cannot wait to step foot on the pitches in Calafell. I think both Irish teams travelling to ECBU have a great shot at causing a few raised eyebrows. It should be a very successful tournament for both Open and Mixed teams

  • Steve Sez: Had some blinding grabs at Yes But Nau. Seemed to enjoy shoving his grapes in people's mouths way too much though.
